To be prepared, ready, and available when loss, tragedy, or crisis strikes a member of the community. We will mobilize resources through a network providing support, direction, and encouragement while meeting immediate and urgent needs.
We hope to create a safe landing through a team of believers who will offer provision, protection, and peace during life’s storms. We will partner with other organizations, share resources, repurpose donations, and work together in ministry to extend the reach towards those in need. All of this has been put in motion to share the faith, hope and love we have found that only comes from knowing Jesus as Savior, and trying to faithfully and obediently live our lives according to His will.
When the first church was formed and the Spirit was poured out, the people of God loved each other and were so connected that they all gave so that no one was left in want or need. This kind of love is at the core of what it means to be family…protection and provision. Jesus said “I am the vine, and you are the branches”. In nature, when the branches come together it forms a protective covering called a "Canopy". We have all experienced crisis at one time or another, and it can be overwhelming to face those trials alone. By coming together as His branches, and forming The Canopy, we can already have resources in place for those with immediate and urgent needs.
Simply put we want to BE THE CHURCH!
A branch of hope through the wind and waves!
Take this opportunity to join us in providing resources and giving hope to those facing immediate and urgent needs. Together we can create major impact to shine a light in the dark.
We all have space to give away things that could be helpful to someone in need. Allow us to share your gently used items with the community to impact lives in need.
Mobilizing a team of volunteers can make a real difference. Join us and see what can be accomplished when you get an impassioned team to focus on change.
Our initial fundraising will earmark monies with the goal of having a building within the next 6 months to a year. This space would include a small warehouse area for storing the physical items that are most commonly needed. Clothing, bedding, toiletries, etc... There would also be an office or two for administrative use and client counseling, a multi-media board room for small meetings and donor presentations, and a good size open common area for event prep, volunteer gatherings and training.
We also foresee the need for a vehicle to pick up and deliver the physical items clients and other non-profit groups in the area. We plan to partner with and grow the relationships that have been established with local groups that are already doing great work. A moving truck or box truck is going to be a must have as we endeavor to meet needs and provide relief as quickly as possible.
The seed for the The Canopy came about with the idea of a safe place that would be open 24 hours for anyone going through the issues of life. A Canopy Cafe where there would be free coffee, juice, light food offerings. Music, activity centers, plenty of couches, chairs and tables. A place that would be staffed by compassionate volunteers and professionals who want to give a couple hours to be there...just in case. And, during the day we could hold workshops, trainings, job fairs, and support other community center type projects.
